Pipelines

Optimized Workflows for Seamless 3D Animation

3D Character Production Pipeline:

The 3D character production pipeline is a well-structured process designed to deliver high-quality, lifelike characters for various media projects. This pipeline comprises several stages, each building upon the previous one to achieve the final result. Initially, concept development and character design bring the character to life on paper. Once approved, 3D modeling sculpts the character digitally, followed by rigging and skinning to create realistic movement. Texturing and shading enhance the character's appearance, while the animation stage brings it to life. Close collaboration with our clients at each step ensures fewer revisions and a more efficient production process.

3D Technical Animation Pipeline:

The 3D technical animation pipeline focuses on creating accurate and informative animations to showcase complex products, machinery, or processes. This pipeline starts with gathering client requirements and creating a storyboard that outlines the animation's flow. Next, 3D modeling constructs the required assets, while rigging enables their movement. Texturing and shading provide the assets with realistic materials and colors. Animation, lighting, and rendering bring the technical elements together to create a visually engaging presentation. Throughout this pipeline, our clients play a crucial role in providing feedback and approving each step, ensuring the final result meets their expectations and minimizes unnecessary edits.

01.

Gathering info

Using our 3D animation price calculator, combined with your preferences, we establish a preliminary project scope.

01.

Gathering info

We collect introductory information on the project and form the body of the project.

  • In this step, we should answer questions:

    • Which intermediate result should the character serve?
    • How and where will it be used?
    • Human, animal or creature? What gender?
    • What qualities should he represent?
    • What should it be able to do?
    • Is there a rough deadline?
    • What is the range of cost that the project must fit?
02.

Contract Agreement

Once all the necessary information is collected, we proceed to sign a contract with a duration ranging from 1 to 3 years.

03.

Project Planning

Upon commencement, we activate our work hour tracker. The project is segmented into manageable tasks, which are then scheduled through our CRM. Each task is allocated a specific percentage of the overall project time and budget.

04.

Prepayment

The anticipated project cost is divided according to the pipeline stages. At this juncture, you need to decide on the number of payments you wish to make before the completion of the work. The number should range between 3 and the total number of stages in your project. The more frequent the payments, the more favorable it is.

Typically, the initial deposit is around 10% of the total project cost.

05.

Voiceover Script

After gathering insights about the strengths and weaknesses of your company, as well as other relevant information about your business, we will craft the voiceover script. The script plays a pivotal role in the final outcome and influences how potential customers perceive your business or service.

The script development process involves several stages: drafting, revising, and finalizing, ensuring it's concise yet meaningful. Each revision serves a specific purpose.

05.

Concept

We design the concept for the 3D character, capturing the traits you wish to represent. This early visualization helps adjust the appearance and incorporate your preferences before the more demanding stages. This process reduces future edits and conserves considerable project time.

06.

Design, Scripting & Optimization

We immerse ourselves in your business, crafting a visual language to resonate with your prospective clients.

Once we ascertain what's essential for a successful outcome, we assess existing assets you might have that can be leveraged for the project. Such optimization not only conserves project time but also ensures a higher-quality video for the same budget.

07.

Voiceover & Background Music

Once the text is finalized, we transition to the voiceover phase. You have the opportunity to select a voice from our extensive database to represent your video. Following that, we provide you with multiple versions, each paired with distinct background music samples for your consideration.

06.

3D Character Modeling

Based on the endorsed design, we craft a 3D character that serves as your brand's representative or avatar. This intricate procedure encompasses a minimum of five distinct phases: blocking (establishing the foundational shape), fine-tuning of features, apparel design, re-topology (optimizing polygon structures), and grooming (designing the hairstyle).

08.

Storyboard

Aligned with the script and design, we illustrate key frames that display the events and their appearance in the animation. If required, an intermediary video can be crafted, presenting a sequence of frames accompanied by voiceover and background music.

09.

Modeling

We craft 3D models of entities participating in the video, such as equipment and surroundings. These models are fashioned in line with the design and script, varying based on the intended shot proximity. Macro shots require the utmost detail and, as a result, consume significantly more production time.

07.

3D Character Texturing

We create a UV map, then define the surface's physical properties for the character's body and craft textures based on the approved concept. It's crucial to determine the shot proximity in advance. Failing to do so could lead to technical constraints necessitating texture adjustments.

10.

UV Map, Shaders & Textures

We establish a UV map, then assign the surface's physical properties to the objects and craft the textures in line with the design.

08.

Grooming

We craft realistic hair, eyelashes, eyebrows, or fur for the character, tailored to its use as an avatar or mascot.

09.

Rigging

We bind the 3D character to a skeletal structure, allowing us to control its movements. This phase enables us to animate the mascot or assign it the desired poses and facial expressions. For a 3D avatar, the approach varies slightly based on the real-time motion capture system in use.

11.

Rigging

We construct movable joints for the equipment, enabling us to simulate its real-world functionalities, from basic bending to intricate suspension systems. The rig is essential for animating the model.

10.

Environment

We craft a setting or backdrop for the character, tailoring it to specific scenarios such as an office, room, factory floor, stadium, gym, and more. This environment helps contextualize the character and enhance the overall visual storytelling.

12.

Animation

We combine the entire scene and animate the 3D objects within it. The stage comprises several parts where the general concept is tested through rough animation and then detailed in the final version.

13.

Lighting and Rendering

When everything moves according to the script, we render the 3D scene. We adjust the lighting and the render engine so that the video is finished at the optimal time and looks cinematically, without any errors and artifacts.

14.

Compositing

We post-process the rendered frames until they look as intended or better. Then, we apply FX, mix it with voiceover, and render a compressed 3D animation video. Hundreds of gigabytes of rough material turn into a video of about 100 Mb.

15.

Final Payment

You review the watermarked 3D animated video and settle the outstanding invoice. Once we confirm receipt of your payment, we'll send you the finished video, watermark-free. That's it!

11.

Final Payment

Upon completing the final payment for the remaining work, you will receive an avatar or static 3D mascot renders for your online advertising campaigns and promotions.

    • 01. GATHERING INFO

Based on the 3D animation price calculator and your wishes, we form a preliminary body of the project. In this step, we should answer questions:

      2. What is the reasonable price of the entire project?
      3. Is the project deadline doable?
      4. General information about your business.
      5. What’s the purpose of 3D animation? What should your customers get after watching the video?
    • 02. CONTRACT

After gathering together the information we sign a contract for 1 to 3 years' duration.

    • 03. PLANNING

From this moment we start our work hour tracker. We split the project into small pieces and schedule it via CRM. Each step has its percentage of project time and cost.

    • 04. PREPAYMENT

Supposed project cost splits according to pipeline steps. At this moment, you need to choose how many transfers you want to make before the work has been done. It should be between 3 and the number of all steps for your project. The more transfers, the better.

The minimum prepay is usually about 10% of the entire project.

    • 05. VOICEOVER TEXT

After collecting your company’s pros and cons and all useful information about your business, we will make the voiceover text. The text plays a significant role in the result and affects what potential customers will think about your business/service.

We write text in several steps: creating, editing, and completing until it is short enough and rich of sense. Each editing has its reason.

    • 06. DESIGN, SCRIPT & OPTIMIZATION

We dive into your business and form a language of images to communicate with your potential customers.

When it becomes clear what is needed to complete work successfully, we take an inventory of the stuff you already have and which could be useful for the project. Optimization saves project time and allows you to make a better video for the same amount of money.

    • 07. VOICEOVER & BACKGROUND MUSIC

After the text is completed, we send it to the voiceover stage. You can choose a voice for your video from our base and then we send you back several versions with different background music samples.

    • 08. STORYBOARD

According to the script and design, we draw key frames that show what will happen and how it will look in the animation. If it’s necessary, we can make an intermediate video as a sequence of frames with voiceover and background music.

    • 09. MODELING

We create 3D models of objects taking part in the video: equipment and the environment. Models are made according to the design and script, depending on how close the plan should be. Macro plans are the most detailed, but they demand much more production time.

    • 10. UV MAP, SHADERS & TEXTURES

We create a UV map, then we give the physical properties of the surface for the objects and paint the textures according to the design.

    • 11. RIG

We create movable joints for the equipment which allow us to imitate its real capabilities from simple bending to complex suspension systems. The rig is needed for the model to become animated.

The minimum prepayment is usually about 10% of the entire project.

    • 05. CONCEPT

We create the concept of the 3D character, illustrating the qualities that you want to embody in him. The concept helps to evaluate the appearance and to consider your wishes before the most expensive part of the work begins. This way, we can prevent further edits and save a lot of project time.

    • 06. 3D CHARACTER MODELING

According to the approved concept, we create a 3D character that will serve as your mascot or avatar. The work comprises at least five parts: blocking (basic form), feature detailing, clothing, re-topology (polygon optimization), and grooming (hairstyle).

    • 07. 3D CHARACTER TEXTURING

We create a UV map, then assign the physical properties of the surface to the body, and draw textures according to the approved concept. It's important to know in advance how close the shots will be. Otherwise, we may encounter technical limitations that will require repainting the textures.

    • 08. GROOMING

We create realistic hair, eyelashes, eyebrows, or fur for the character, considering its further use as an avatar or mascot.

    • 09. RIG

We attach the 3D character to bones which will be used to control it. This stage allows us to animate the mascot or give it the desired pose and facial expressions. For a 3D avatar, the process may vary slightly depending on the real-time motion capture system.

    • 10. ENVIRONMENT

We create an environment scene for the character if it needs to be placed in certain conditions: office, room, production facility, stadium, gym, etc.
